A center for industrial AI at Bern.Dorf in Mödling

In industry, artificial intelligence is increasingly leaving the screen and becoming part of real processes: machines see, understand and act. Under the project name “Physical AI Space”, a development and implementation environment for industrial AI applications is being prepared at Bern.Dorf in Mödling. There, companies will be able to test and refine the latest AI technologies under realistic conditions before investing in a production solution.

HEKNER Systems is the technical operator. The goal is to close the gap between a promising technological idea and a robust deployment in production.

New intelligence for industrial processes

Physical AI brings artificial intelligence into the real industrial world. Systems see, understand, inspect, measure, grasp, sort and respond to their environment.

Many of these technologies are ready for use today. The decisive competitive advantage, however, arises where companies start integrating them into their processes early and build their own know-how. Those who implement concrete applications now gain experience, improve processes and build a lead that will be hard to catch up with later. The key challenge is therefore no longer access to the technology, but bringing it into industrial practice quickly.

To make this possible, the Physical AI Space provides the infrastructure required: from industrial cameras, optics and lighting to robotics, edge and GPU computing, and conveyor systems.

Industrial partners help shape it

The equipment is being built together with the first industrial and technology partners, tailored precisely to industrial requirements.

Industrial companies use the Physical AI Space as a development environment for their own applications and can quickly turn real use cases into production-ready solutions. They save valuable time in implementation, build internal know-how in a targeted way and gain a concrete head start in bringing Physical AI into their own production.

Technology partners in camera technology, optics, lighting, robotics, sensors and edge computing are invited to deploy their solutions on changing real-world industrial tasks. The result is a permanent platform where the latest technologies are in live operation.

Voices on the Physical AI Space

“European companies have always been among the world leaders in mechanical engineering, automation and industrial manufacturing. Physical AI is the tool to expand this strength for the long term.”
